Your Guide to Facelift Surgery in Pasadena, CA

As you mature, it’s common to start noticing an uptick in wrinkle formation and progression. Although this is a normal part of life, many men and women still look for a way to diminish these wrinkles and creases.

Plenty of creams and serums currently exist on the market, promising to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. However, it’s nearly impossible for individuals to reverse the effects of decades of aging with these products in the same way they could with a facelift.

At Premier Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, we are proud to offer this transformative procedure for men and women in Pasadena, CA, who want to address multiple signs of aging at once.

What Is a Facelift?

A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a type of plastic surgery that aims to restore a more youthful appearance by removing excess skin and tightening the skin and underlying muscles.

Facelifts address numerous visible signs of aging at once, including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Creases under the eyes
  • Sagging skin in the midface

We are proud to offer multiple types of facelifts to meet your unique needs and address various stages of aging.

Full Facelift

A full facelift is what most people think of when they hear the word “facelift.” This procedure targets the bottom two-thirds of the face, including the cheeks, mouth, and jawline. Full facelifts are commonly paired with neck lifts to provide more meaningful results and a more cohesive final result.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is less invasive than a traditional full facelift and is meant to address moderate signs of aging rather than advanced signs of aging. Mini facelifts require a smaller incision and focus on the lower third of the face. This makes them ideal for treating sagging jowls.

Deep Plane Facelift

A deep plane facelift is an advanced facelift technique that targets the deeper layers of tissue and muscle in the face. Rather than just trimming off excess skin and creating a tighter, better-contoured appearance, deep plane facelifts actually manipulate and tighten the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS).

Deep plane facelifts are known for producing more natural-looking results and are especially good for treating the appearance of severe or deep-set wrinkles and creases.

Which Type of Facelift is Right For Me?

We will determine which type of facelift is right for you during your consultation after considering several highly individualized factors such as what signs of aging you want to address, their severity, your skin’s general condition, and your medical history.

Benefits of Getting a Facelift

If you’re considering getting a facelift, it’s important to know what benefits you can expect from the procedure. Below are four of the most popular facelift benefits cited by our patients.

1. Restores a More Youthful Appearance

For most people, the biggest benefit of facelift surgery is restoring a more vibrant and youthful appearance. Many people find that the way they look in the mirror as they age does not align with how they view themselves. A facelift can address multiple signs of aging to help you look more like you feel.

2. Offers Long-Lasting Results

Another major benefit of facelifts is that you don’t have to worry about the results quickly fading. No matter what kind of facelift you’re interested in, you can expect the results to last about ten years. That is significantly longer than what any non-surgical procedure can achieve.

3. Your Procedure Is Always Customized

We know that what works for one person won’t work for everyone. Each person has unique facial features and bone structure that necessitate individualized treatment. That’s why we personalize every treatment and surgery we perform. Facelifts are highly adaptable, and we can tweak the procedure as needed to meet your needs.

4. Most Adults Make Good Candidates

There’s a common misconception that facelifts are reserved exclusively for women in their 60s. But this simply isn’t true. Both men and women can use facelifts to achieve their cosmetic goals. Additionally, there is no perfect age to get facelift surgery. The average facelift patient is anywhere from 40 to 70 years old.

What to Expect

Before your facelift surgery, you’ll need to come to our office for a consultation. This gives us the opportunity to determine whether you’re a good candidate for treatment and if so, to develop a custom treatment plan.

On the day of your procedure, we will review any important information with you and then administer the appropriate anesthesia. Full facelifts and deep plane facelifts are done under general anesthesia, while mini facelifts can be done using a local anesthetic.

Depending on what type of facelift you choose, you can expect the procedure to take from two to five hours.

What Is Rhytidectomy Recovery Like?

Immediately after your surgery, your face will be bandaged. It’s important to keep the bandages dry until we remove them at your first follow-up visit. We will provide detailed instructions on how to clean and care for the incision sites and what to expect during the recovery process.

The length of your recovery will depend on what kind of facelift you get. Full facelifts and deep plane facelifts usually require four to six weeks to fully heal, whereas mini facelifts only require two to four weeks.
