Is a Labiaplasty painful?

Most patients will not find a Labiaplasty to be a painful procedure as it is done under anesthesia. It is normal to experience mild discomfort post-surgery, which can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs.

How many appointments will I need?

Dr. Yu will have you return within a week following your operation to remove any sutures or bandages, as well as to ensure that you are healing properly. After this initial follow-up, you can expect to return about two months after surgery, and then again around six months. Dr. Yu will always let you know when they think you should return at the end of each appointment.

How long until I see results?

Initially, there will be bruising and swelling that will mask you from seeing the results. These will slowly resolve as the tissue heals. Most of our patients will see their results between four and six months.

What’s The First Step?

What to Expect on the day of Labiaplasty Surgery

On the day of Labiaplasty surgery at Premier Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, your surgeon, and their friendly staff will welcome you. Since labiaplasty is a highly customized surgical procedure, they will ensure you agree with the treatment plan, once again.

From there, you will be taken to the operating room where you will be given anesthesia to make sure you remain physically comfortable during the procedure.
Your surgeon will then follow your tailored treatment plan to remove the excess labial tissue and will then close the incision sites strategically, giving your labia a symmetrical and neat appearance.

Depending on your labiaplasty goals and personal anatomy, your surgeon may use one of several or a combination of surgical approaches to meet your needs.

TRIM METHOD

The Trim Method, or edge excision, is the most sought-after technique of Labiaplasty. During this natural approach, the asymmetrical labia tissue is removed. The labia minora is usually trimmed in alignment with the labia majora.

WEDGE METHOD

The Wedge Method is more involved than the Trim Method, in that, the Wedge Method removes a pie-shaped piece from the excess labial tissue. This triangular incision is then sutured together, leaving the natural edges of the labia intact.

CLITORAL HOOD REDUCTION

During a Clitoral Hood Reduction, balance is restored to the anatomy reducing the exaggeration of the clitoral hood.

Finally, your surgeon will close any incisions with dissolvable sutures.

Labiaplasty Recovery

Right after surgery, you can expect your labia to be bruised, swollen, and tender. You will experience some discomfort that will begin to subside within the next week. You may use an ice pack to reduce any swelling and pain. The doctor will recommend you stay away from sex and use a tampon for close to four to six weeks.

Most swelling and discomfort may be mitigated at around six weeks post-operatively, however, residual swelling may remain for up to six months.
