What’s The First Step?

The first step in getting a Hydrafacial in Los Angeles and Pasadena is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Li or one of our aestheticians at Premier Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa so that they can discuss your medical history, aesthetic goals, and medications. Further, they can examine your face and recommend the best facial and product line for your particular case.

What to Expect on the Day of a Hydrafacial Treatment

When it is time for your treatment, our friendly team will first greet you and make you comfortable. Once you’re settled, we will begin with the easy 3-step treatment.

The first step is to give your skin a proper cleanse using a lactic acid-based serum that gently softens the surface oils and impurities to effortlessly lift them away with the patented vortex suction. Then, a glycol preparation is applied that utilizes alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) to dissolve dead skin cells and beta hydroxy acid (BHA) to penetrate the pores and dislodge trapped debris.

Next, is to extract the impurities and give your skin a boost of hydration. Hydrafacial is great because it doesn’t require any harsh exfoliation methods like other treatments because it uses hydra dermabrasion to delicately vacuum away the impurities and dead skin, leaving behind a refreshed canvas. If you’re uncomfortable for any reason, the suction levels can be adjusted for a more enjoyable experience. Booster serums can also be combined with your treatment to target specific skin concerns.

It is essential to avoid direct sun exposure and harsh skincare products for the first 24 to 48 hours following your treatment to allow your skin to heal and regenerate properly. Additionally, we recommend wearing sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to protect your skin from UV damage and maintain the results of your treatment.

To keep your face looking beautiful after your Hydrafacial, these tips can help prolong your results and keep you looking your best:

Stop any Accutane treatments six months before your treatment
Stop using Retin-A and other prescribed medications 48 hours before your treatment
Discontinue over-the-counter acne topicals 48 hours pre-treatment
Avoid BOTOX injections two weeks before your treatment. BOTOX is completely safe to use immediately after your treatment.
Avoid chemical peels two weeks leading up to your treatment
Avoid exfoliating skin treatments
Limit sun exposure and avoid sunburn
Don’t wax or use hair removal cream on the area of treatment
