Liposculpture is an advanced cosmetic surgery designed for extensive body contouring through the removal and reshaping of fat deposits. This surgery is similar to traditional liposuction but has a few key differences in that Liposculpture removes small, localized fat deposits in a quest to sculpt body contours. What is Liposculpture?

Liposculpture is a high-definition body sculpting procedure that focuses on the removal of fat as well as reshaping your body to improve the overall figure. It is often considered to be a more complicated procedure than Liposuction because the shape, dimensions, and proportions of your body need to be considered. Thankfully, Dr. Yu has an artful eye and experience that helps him make the right adjustments to get you looking your best.

Your recovery is very similar to Liposuction in that you will experience some soreness, swelling, and bruising, and you should consider taking off about a week from work. Any physical activity should be kept to a minimum for the first two weeks. You will need to wear a postoperative compression garment for about four to six weeks to minimize the swelling and any pain, as well as prevent the formation of seromas (accumulation of lymph fluid).

What’s The First Step?

The first step in liposculpture in Los Angeles and Pasadena is to contact Premier Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa and schedule a consultation. When you come into our Arcadia office, Dr. Yu will meet with you and discuss your aesthetic concerns. He will then examine your body to best create your surgical plan. You will also be asked about your medical history during this time, so please be as open and honest as possible to avoid any unnecessary complications.

After evaluating your body and creating your procedure plan, you will be able to meet with our Patient Coordinator, who will help you schedule your surgical date and provide you with any necessary information to make your surgery as successful as possible.

What to expect on the day of Liposculpture surgery

On the day of your liposculpture procedure, you will meet with Dr. Yu and discuss the details of your surgery one more time. Then, you will meet with our on-site Anesthesiologist who will provide you with local anesthesia, so you will be awake during the procedure, but shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort.

During your surgery, Dr. Yu will begin by making incisions in strategic locations so that he can insert the slender suction tube (cannula) that will remove any excess fat. Your liposculpture will generally take about two to four hours, however, the exact time will depend on the areas being treated.

Who are the best candidates for Liposculpture?

You’re a good candidate for liposculpture in the greater Los Angeles and Pasadena area if you have the following characteristics:

Close to your ideal weight
Are in overall good health
Have tighter, more elastic skin
Want to sculpt smaller areas of your body
Non-smoker (or can quit before the procedure)

Liposculpture Recovery

After liposculpture, you will be monitored in our recovery room until you are released. Our team will provide you with instructions on how to have a more comfortable and successful recovery. While you will be able to return home so you can recover in comfort, we do encourage you to have a family member or friend available to give you a ride home and assist you around the house for the first 24 – 48 hours.

Recovery from liposculpture can take weeks and it’s common to experience bruising and swelling for several weeks. While it depends on your job and recovery, many of our patients can return to work after a few days but may take up to a week or longer. You should wait up to three or six weeks before doing any strenuous activities depending upon the number and size of areas treated. Dr. Yu will always let you know when it’s safe to return to your regular workout routine.

You should consider going on light walks in order to reduce the risk of blood clots in your legs or arms. You’ll wear a compression garment for up to six weeks to reduce contour irregularities, pain, and swelling. The compression garment also reduces the risk of fluid forming under your skin.
