What is BOTOX?

BOTOX, known as botulinum toxin type A, is a popular non-invasive procedure that temporarily reduces or eliminates wrinkles and fine lines, such as forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet. It’s made with a purified bacteria substance called bacterium clostridium, which is injected into the muscle to block the nerve signals that cause wrinkles.

BOTOX injections are FDA-approved for temporary treatment in the reduction or elimination of  3 areas (frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.

The application helps block the excessive production of saliva or block nerve signals that tell the muscles to contract when they shouldn’t.

If you are planning to get BOTOX injections, abstain from consuming alcohol for a minimum of two weeks before treatment. In addition, to prevent bruising, refrain from taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as aspirin.

What to Expect on the Day of a BOTOX Treatment

When you come into our office for your BOTOX treatments, it is a quick process with each injection taking a few minutes. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our professional and friendly staff and made comfortable for the procedure. Numbing cream can be applied to the treatment site to make you more comfortable. Either Dr. Yu or our professional aesthetician will use a small needle to inject the specified muscles with BOTOX. 

BOTOX Recovery

There is no significant recovery or downtime with BOTOX injections, patients can continue with their daily activities immediately.

*Rubbing or massaging treated areas within 24 hours of the treatment is to be avoided as BOTOX could migrate to other areas. If that does happen, there is a possibility of temporary facial drooping or weakness.
